My story so far…

Hello my name is Annie and I came into the sanctuary in November 2022 after I was sadly dumped outside the sanctuary gates one evening in a carrier. There is therefore no known history on me prior to this.

I was understandably a little stressed on arrival to the sanctuary and it took me a bit of time to settle and feel comfortable. I soon started to come out of my shell and show my sweet and fun personality. I am a loving girl and do love attention and affection mostly on my terms. I will always come back for more loves though because I am a loving girl. I often purr away when I am in my chilled mood and enjoy lots of fusses and chin rubs! It is when I am in my playful mood my carer think I am so funny and cheeky. I love showing off my cute poses and rolling around on the floor and will sometimes ‘mistake’ the humans hand for a toy and occasionally nip them. My carers always grab a toy for me instead. I do love my toys though especially feather teasers! I absolutely love to play and I am just full of character!

My carers think I have such a playful, fun and loving personality and will bring lots of joy to someone. I have been known to get a little bit sensitive at times. This has been during times of change, going to the vets or being around other cats I am wary off. I do adjust well though and when I start to feel comfortable my loving sweet personality shines!

I am such a sweet young girl and have been so overlooked and have been waiting far too long for my forever home!

I have dealt with some past health issues which I have not had any issues with for a long time now and I am a healthy happy girly (please read my medical history to learn more about these issues).

I am so desperate to find a loving home now. I hope someone that can offer me the home I need will adopt me very soon!

Home I am looking for…

I am looking for either an adult only home or a home with sensible children over 12 years old that will understand my boundaries and give me my space when I want it.

I have met a few cats here at the sanctuary and I much prefer my own company so I would rather be the only cat in the home. I would also not like to live with a dog. My ideal home is being loved and spoilt as a solo pet!

I am ideally looking for a home as a strictly INDOOR only cat as long as the home is spacious enough for me and I have lots of enrichment such as cat trees, cat furniture and cat toys to keep me entertained. I do also require someone that can provide me plenty of attention and company especially because I am only young and dont enjoy the company of other animals.

A secured catio or fully cat proofed garden would be a bonus for me!

Medical history…

Annie has no current health concerns but has dealt with some previous health issues……

Not long after Annie arrived with us she was having some mucousy loose poos quite frequently. She had blood tests and an ultrasound scan done and the results of these were normal. The vet suspected she might have IBD which is a common bowel disorder in cats (Inflammatory bowel disease) however this was not a certain diagnosis and after many months of monitoring Annie’s toileting and eating patterns we definitely think it was more stress related and not IBD. Annie was quite anxious and did appear quite stressed and unhappy in the sanctuary environment for a while so we believe her bowel issues and eating habits most likely stemmed from this.

Annie was responding well to small doses of steroid treatment early 2023 but was weaned off them after just a few months because she was doing a lot better. She may require treatment again in the future if she has any flare ups however has not had any need for further treatment since.

Most bowel issues can be managed quite well and effectively particularly in young cats and Annie has really improved over the last year and has not required any further vet visits or treatment for this issue.

At the end of October 2023 Annie was moved from a pen into her own room due to being with us for so long. She developed some urinary crystals days later most likely from the stress of this change. She is just sensitive to change! She was put on a urinary food for a few months which worked wonders to dissolve the crystals. Her retest results came back as all clear in December and was weaned back over to her normal diet of Purina one/gourmet pouches and royal canin gastro intestinal dry food which she will need to stay on in her new home. This is the food that she eats well and suits her best!

If you think you could offer me the home I need, please fill out an Adoption Enquiry Form. Please make sure you have read about all of my needs and our adoption policies before applying.
