My story so far…

Hi, I’m Bailey!

I was brought into the sanctuary in December, but am a very sensitive girl so it has taken me a while to settle and get to know the humans here. I had been through a lot in the year prior to me arriving at the sanctuary, so my carer wanted to give me some time to settle in, decompress and begin to feel comfortable.

My story is quite a long and sad one, but please take some time to read about me. I was originally abandoned at a vets in London whilst pregnant and gave birth soon after-the next day! Thankfully, I was in safe hands when I did give birth so me and my kittens were safe and I didn’t have to worry any more. I remained at the vets while I raised my babies, and it’s been passed along that I was an amazing mommy cat and raised some beautiful healthy babies. When they were ready to find their forever homes, they were quickly snapped up, but nobody wanted me! I was there for a while longer until finally a friend of someone who was helping to look after me, came to take me home!

I then travelled all the way to Wales to my new home! It took a lot of patience and understanding from my new owners, but I did eventually settle. They described me as a loving and sweet little girl, who would follow them around the house and enjoyed attention and cuddles. The only issue was that I was still quite nervous and was spooked very easily by loud noises, sudden movements etc. They also had young children who visited very often, and a change in circumstances meant that they would soon be looking after the children (in our home) even more regularly. So, as much as they loved me dearly, they made the difficult decision to find somewhere for me to go and begin the search for my (hopefully) forever home.

As you may know, there is a major cat crisis at the moment and thousands of cats needing rescue space, so my owners were finding it difficult to find somewhere for me to go. Thankfully, there was space for me here at Wythall, and after hearing my story, my carer just knew I needed help and lots of TLC. So, I made the trip here to Birmingham for a much needed rest! I’m now a well travelled girl!

As mentioned above, my carer has allowed me to settle and I have been given the space, time and patience that I needed in order to feel safe. I am now doing really well with the people that I have formed a bond with. I will happily allow my main carer to pick me up and give me lots of cuddles and fuss, and will even shout at her to ask for attention. I do really enjoy tickles, but only from people that I feel comfortable around. I still can become spooked if there are loud noises, sudden movements etc, and can lash out with in fear with a swipe or nip. I can also lash out if a human does something that just annoys me, such as moving something without asking in my pen or taking too long to clean my pen and being in my space! In general, I am a lovely, friendly girl (once I know you), but I’m not afraid to tell you off if I feel I need to. If you don’t annoy me, you’ll be fine.

Home I am looking for…

Due to my history and nervous nature, I am looking for humans who will be very patient with me, and allow me to settle at my own pace. I may hide away to begin with, you may not be able to touch me and I may be a little grumpy. But I promise if you just give me a chance and be kind to me, I will slowly begin to trust you and you will soon enough see my real self! And then I’ll never leave you alone!

I am looking for a very quiet home, where I can be myself and not have to feel scared. I am hoping to find some kind, understanding humans to accept me into their home and hearts and give me time to let my guard down. I would not be happy around children so am looking for an adult only home.

I become stressed around other animals so would like to be the only pet in the home please. I could perhaps allow some fish or other organisms that would be contained in an enclosure, as they may be fun to watch! But definitely no dogs or cats please!

In my previous home, I was kept as an indoor only cat and due to my personality and fears, my carer feels this would be the best option for me to ensure I can live a life where I feel safe and comfortable.

If you feel you could give me the home I am searching for, please fill out an adoption enquiry form with as much detail about why/how you would be a good match for me!

Medical history…

I am a healthy girl with no known health concerns in the past or at present.

If you think you could offer me the home I need, please fill out an Adoption Enquiry Form. Please make sure you have read about all of my needs and our adoption policies before applying.

Forms lacking in detail or with questions unanswered may not be considered, we need to ensure we are matching our cats to the right home for them.
