My story so far…

Hiiiiiiii everyone! I’m Dottie and I’m so excited. I’m looking for some humans who will fall in love with me and give me my forever home, could it be you?

I have lived stray for most of my life so would really like to experience living in my very own home. Somewhere where I can relax and not have to worry about where I will get my next meal or whether I will have shelter for that night. I really would like to be the centre of someone’s world and to have them spoil me rotten and give me everything I could want! A girl can dream!

While I was living outside, there were some very kind humans who looked after me and made sure I always had food in my tummy so I am very grateful to them for keeping me safe and saving me by bringing me to the sanctuary. I sadly had already had at least one litter of kittens- lots of big, scary man cats were chasing me and just would not leave me alone, so the humans knew they needed to get me safe. Thankfully, I arrived at the sanctuary just in time as I was very early pregnant but it was decided that I still be spayed so I could settle into the sanctuary and have a much deserved and needed rest. No more kittens for me now!

Considering I lived pretty much outside all the time, I am such a friendly girl who loves everyone. My carer says I have the sweetest personality and am just such a lovely, easy-going girl. I love to chat away to the humans and show them my sparkly teefs like in this picture! I am still only young and haven’t had much chance to relax so it has been lovely for the carers here to watch me thrive and grow into my amazing personality. When I arrived, I was very dirty and quite skinny, I was also a little reserved, but now my fur is clean and shiny. I am so confident and love to play, all I needed was to know I am safe and not have to worry or hide anymore. I love tickles and fuss, but especially love a lap cuddle. If you need a little cuddle friend this winter, I could be your girl! Sometimes, I do have moments where I want some time to myself though. It’s hard work being a princess so if you take me home, please remember that I do need some ‘me time’ for a snooze every now and then, I’ll usually just take myself off somewhere quiet or give the humans a look to say “leave me alone now please”.

Home I am looking for…

I’m not fussy with the type of home I am looking for, just somewhere where I can sleep warm and safe. I would love humans who will give me cuddles when I want them and play with me too but also let me chill on my own if I want some time to myself. Once I have settled in and it starts to get warmer outside I would like to be able to go out into my own garden to explore safely, although please don’t shut me outside all the time, I need to be able to come back into my house whenever I want as I’ve never been able to do that before. I will need to stay indoors for at least 8 weeks though while I settle in and get used to my new humans.

I could live with children as I am a sweet and calm natured girl who loves everyone, I would be happy with any humans as long as they love me. I would prefer not to live with any other cats after my previous experiences. I have met a couple of the other cats here at the sanctuary but am a little wary of them so think I would prefer to be able to settle into my house on my own, perhaps in the future I could have a friend to cuddle and play with but for now I want all the humans’ attention to myself please. I could maybe consider living with a calm dog who is used to living with cats and will not chase or scare me.

Medical history…

Dottie is a very healthy girl with no health concerns. Whilst settling in with us though, she was a bit poorly with crystals in her urine. This was most likely due to the stress of coming to the sanctuary and settling into a very different environment to what she was used to. Dottie was put onto a urinary diet and a couple of supplements which are added to her food, these are working really well for her and she has recently had a urine test come back as clear meaning that the special food and supplements are doing their job and have dissolved the crystals in her bladder/ urine. We would advise that she stay on the special urinary food and supplements for a couple of months once going to her new home, but then she should be able to be weaned off them and placed onto a normal adult cat food. Of course, as with any cat, her new owners will need to be vigilant and keep an eye out for if she may be feeling stressed or poorly in the future. We are happy to discuss symptoms to look out for that may be caused by urinary stress, please get in touch if you are interested in giving Dottie a home but would like to have a further chat with Dottie’s carer about this. Most cats who experience stress related cystitis or similar whilst with us often have no further issues once they are settled and happy in their new homes.

We also just wanted to mention that due to being a white cat and having light coloured ears, Dottie will need sun-cream applied to her ears and nose on sunny days to protect her from sunburn. We would also advise keeping her indoors during the hottest days of the year for her own safety, she can happily sunbathe inside the house instead. Please see Cassie who is also looking for a home to learn why this is so important.

If you think you could offer me the home I need, please fill out an Adoption Enquiry Form with as much information as possible. Please make sure you have read about all of my needs and our adoption policies before applying.

Forms lacking in detail or with questions unanswered may not be considered, we need to ensure we are matching our cats to the right home for them.
