My story so far…

Hi, my name’s Jasmine, but you can call me Jas.

I lived here at the sanctuary when I was a baby and sadly did not have the best start to my life. I had a nasty bug when I was younger so was quite a poorly kitten, but I fought it off and made a full recovery. However, although I was young and healthy once recovered, nobody wanted to adopt me so I was here until I was 18 months old before somebody finally chose me to love!

Unfortunately, recently my owner became ill and could no longer look after me so I found myself back here at the sanctuary waiting again.

I am a very sensitive girl and have suffered from urinary tract infections in the past due to stress, but I am on some supplements for this that seem to work well for me. I was quite stressed in my previous home as it was a bit busy with people coming and going who I didn’t know well, so am hoping for a nice quiet home to spend my life now.

I am very friendly but can be a little wary of new people and may need a little bit of time to trust you. My carer says I have a very big personality and am a funny girl who is not afraid to show my feelings. I can be a bit temperamental, but not in a nasty way at all! Sometimes I just want to be left alone for some me time, which I don’t think is too much to ask for. I do love having tickles, fusses and even a cuddle on a lap but once I have had enough, I will give you a punch or a bite to tell you. My carer tells me it doesn’t hurt at all as I am very gentle, even when telling her off, but I like to think I’m ferocious. Even if I am in one of my bad moods, I will still want attention again after a few minutes.

Apparently, I’m most people’s perfect type of cat because I want lots of cuddles and love but am also quite happy to be left on my own when you go out to work.
I am a very playful girl who loves to play with toys (especially smelly catnip and valerian ones! And wands with feathers on them too!) Sometimes though, I can get a little overstimulated when playing and can start biting the humans hands. This is easily managed if you give me a toy to play with instead of your hand or just allow me some time to calm down. Please don’t let this put you off or take it as aggression, the reason I get a bit too much and over- excited when playing is because I spent a lot of time on my own when I was younger due to being poorly. I didn’t have siblings to play fight with so I don’t know when I’m taking it a bit too far and don’t realise that I’m hurting at all, I just think I’m playing.

Home I am looking for…

I am hoping to find a quiet forever home where I can spend the rest of my life. As much as I love my carers here at the sanctuary, I really don’t want to end up back here again so really hope my next home will be my last.

I would much prefer to be the only pet in the home. I have lived with a dog previously and we did get on okay, but I would like if all the attention was for me and I didn’t have to share. I’m not really keen on other cats, so don’t want to live with any. I could live with older children 14+ as long as they understand that I will need time and to give me space when I want it. I have lots of love to give, but really appreciate if you take the time to get to know me, can read my body language and listen to me when I want to be left alone.

I would like safe access to outside in my new home, but will need to be kept entirely indoors for at least 8 weeks whilst I settle in and get used to my new humans.

Medical history…

I am a healthy girly, however can suffer with stress cystitis and urine infections during stressful periods or if I am unhappy. I had a few bouts of cystitis in my previous home and have had one while settling back in here at the sanctuary (this recent one was purely stress cystitis and no infection was present, it cleared up quickly with the right medications). I am now on a supplement called cystaid that helps to keep my urinary tract working as it should. I will now need to remain on this supplement permanently to avoid any major urinary complications in the future, however my new owners will need to be aware that I could have mild flare ups if I am stressed.

If you would like any further information on urinary problems in cats, you can research online or my carer will be happy to have a chat with you. Please just send an email or call the sanctuary if you have any questions.

If you think you could offer me the home I need, please fill out an Adoption Enquiry Form with as much information as possible. Please make sure you have read about all of my needs and our adoption policies before applying.

Forms lacking in detail or with questions unanswered may not be considered, we need to ensure we are matching our cats to the right home for them.
