My story so far…

My owners change in cirmcumstances meant they had to surrender me to the Sanctuary. This was due to no fault of my own and my owner couldn’t say enough about what a loving dog I am!

I had been staying at the Sanctuary boarding kennels for a little while before my owner sadly had to give me up so I have been getting lots of love from the team of staff and volunteers.

Home I am looking for…

I am looking for my forever home where I can bring much joy to a home with my infectious waggy tail. I absolutely LOVE people!!! Although I can get a bit excited and jump up at first, my carers have been working on this with me so I now try keep all my paws on the floor to get my cuddles!

My carer says I am a super sweet girl who is mostly a gentle giant, except when I get my mad play and zoomy mode on then watch out as I have no brakes!! I could live with children 5+ years if they are used to big playful dogs like me that as I might get too excited and accidently bump into them.

Once I have had some exercise and a good play I settle right down and just love a good snooze!!

I did live with a cat in my previous home but I can get a bit over-excited around other cats and chase, so I think a home without any cats in the future would be best for me.

I could potentially live with another medium/ large size dog in the future that would play and chill with me. My carer says I have really bad manners when meeting other dogs and I will jump on them and bully them a bit to make them run so I can start a fun chase game and play with them! (I don’t know what she is on about I am just getting them to play!!!) Luckily the staff dogs I go out with are very tolerant of my behaviour and will run about and play with me but my carer supervises closely to make sure I am not getting too silly…. However other dogs would not like this at all and it could potentially start an argument as I am still learning how to correctly greet other dogs and I still get very overexcited and make mistakes. Hopefully with more training and socialising with the right dogs I will get better and better but I need careful introductions with the right dogs to make that happen, and a strong handler to help me move away if I am getting too much for the other dog.

I think I will need someone around most of the day and I could only be left for a 1-3 hours (after training in my initial settling in period) as I was never really left alone for long in my previous home. My carers think as long as I have plenty of exercise and play before you go and I’m left with something to do (a kong to chew or some toys to chomp) I should be ok as I settle really well in my kennel after my walk and breakfast!

Behaviour & Training

I do have some training under my belt but my carers say I still need to master some of the basics. Already since being at the Sanctuary I have been making lots of progress and my training is coming along well and my carer and volunteers have all said what amazing progress I have been making and I am now walking very well on the lead and keeping my paws on the floor!

There are not many dogs that like big dogs, like me, at the Sanctuary so I have been going out with some staff members dogs instead. I am super playful, I love a good run about and playing tumble. However my initial manners when I meet dogs on lead needs some work my carer says as I can get a bit too excited and try to play straight away, sometimes I even jump on them or push them about or growl at them to make them run and play!!! Luckily the staff dogs I play with are very tolerant & friendly and didn’t mind too much but other dogs would not like it at all!

When I am in a home I would need to avoid walking in dog busy areas as I would just find it far too exciting and my carer says sadly lots of other dogs won’t understand my strange over the top greetings…. But if I could just make a few dog friends that are tolerant of me that I could go to a secure private field to see then I would be very happy as I really do love to run and play and chill with other dogs!! <3

When I am in a home I will need some more work on my dog socialising skills but I think I would probably be best staying on a short lead in public and avoid parks or dog busy areas as if I behave like this with the wrong dog it could lead to an doggy argument!

Being a big girl I do need a very strong handler because if I do get over excited or see a dog I am desperate to play with sometimes I forget my lead training and I pull out of excitement, but this is improving with training so with continued training in the home my carer thinks I will only continue to get better!

My health & Medical Information

Before coming to the Sanctuary it looks like I have had phantom pregnancies, now I have been spayed this should not cause any further problems.

Being a large breed I am likely to be prone to joint issues so I need to stay on joint supplements once in a home (I’m currently on Yumove) and my adopters need to be mindful of what activities I do to try and prevent wear and tear on my joints (like climbing the stairs, jumping on or off things or making sure I dont overdo it when Im running & playing)

If you think you could offer me the home I need, please fill out an Adoption Enquiry Form. Please make sure you have read about all of my needs and our adoption policies before applying.

Forms lacking in detail or with questions unanswered may not be considered, we need to ensure we are matching our animals to the right home for them.
