My story so far…
Hi everyone, I’m Fifi.
I unfortunately found myself coming to the sanctuary in need of a new home recently because my owner had to move home and sadly could not take me with her. I had lived with my previous owners since I was 1 year old, so for 7 years and was loved very dearly! My human dad sadly passed away which was very difficult for me and my human mom, however we helped each other through it. My human mommy said that he was my favourite person and I loved him so much. Of course, I loved my mom too and she loved me. She recently found it very difficult to make the decision to rehome me, but after trying everything, she needed to find somewhere to live, and this new place had rules that said no pets were allowed (not even a quiet little Fifi!)
I was quite wary and grumpy whilst settling in here, which I’m sure is understandable as it is a lot for me to go through and I wasn’t sure what was happening. Thankfully, I began to trust the humans here after a few days and told them that actually I do want some tickles and cuddles please, but on my terms of course.
I am a lovely girl and do enjoy cuddles and attention, but will sometimes hiss or hit out if I have had enough or if something upsets or worries me. My previous owner described me as a friendly, quiet lapcat, which I have shown here too, but as I don’t like other cats and there are a lot of them here, my stress and anxiety levels are heightened at the moment. Hopefully, once I go to a new home, I will feel a lot more settled, happy and safe. I just need to find the right person/people who will give me a chance and time to settle into their home, without expecting too much of me too soon.
Home I am looking for…
I am looking for a very quiet home please. All I’m asking for is a quiet retirement home, where I can lounge around and do my own thing without being interrupted unnecessarily, but where I will have some humans to keep me company and give me lots of love. I wouldn’t like to live with young children and would prefer an adult only home. I could live with older teenagers 16+ as long as they are sensible and give me space and time. I would like a home that is not too busy, so maybe a maximum of 3 or 4 people, and any potential adopters will need to allow me to settle and get to know me and my personality. I’m sure in no time I will be snoozing on your lap and shouting at you for attention or food! I just need a bit of time to get used to you before I can trust you and feel safe.
I definitely do not want to live with any other cats or dogs! Gosh, I’ve seen enough cats here to last me a lifetime! They’re everywhere! I know I’m probably the oldest one here at the moment, so I probably won’t be picked quickly, but I do hope someone chooses me to be part of their family soon. I think I would be much happier in my own home with lots of space and not having to share anything, including the attention of the humans!
I am used to having access to my own garden and being able to go out there for a quiet wander around and sunbathe, so would like this in my new home too please. My previous owner has said that I didn’t venture far and tended to stay mainly in the garden, so I would be the perfect companion for someone who enjoys lounging around in the garden, and I can happily join you for a lap cuddle!
Medical history…
I am a healthy girl and have been given a clean bill of health by the vets.
Due to my age, I had full bloods taken and checked when I arrived at the sanctuary, but these came back all fine.
If you think you could offer me the home I need, please fill out an Adoption Enquiry Form. Please make sure you have read about all of my needs and our adoption policies before applying.
Forms lacking in detail or with questions unanswered may not be considered, we need to ensure we are matching our cats to the right home for them.
