Our story so far…

We were rehomed at the beginning of November, but sadly we were returned to the sanctuary through no fault of our own. Our adopters contacted the sanctuary to say they could no longer keep us after one of us began toileting outside the litter tray, specifically on the sofa. This behaviour had only started a few days prior to their decision.

Our main carer spoke with the adopters to offer support and advice, as the sanctuary always does, but they had already made up their minds. We had been in the home for nearly four weeks, and it’s believed that the toileting issue came from just one of us and was linked to stress caused by changes within the household while we were still settling in. Since returning to the sanctuary, we have had absolutely no toileting issues and have used our litter trays perfectly, confirming that this was a temporary behavioural response to stress.

We originally came into the sanctuary back in March this year with our mummy, Posy, when we were just six days old. We arrived via a veterinary practice, where our mum had given birth on the same day she was taken in by our finder. Sadly, our mum’s owner later came forward to sign us all over, having abandoned her outside for some time and showing no interest in keeping her. We were then all brought safely into the sanctuary.

Since then, we have grown into beautiful, friendly, and loving boys. I, Hickory, can be a little more reserved and sensitive than my brother Spruce, but we are both very gentle, affectionate, and typical playful young kittens. We love a good play session just as much as we enjoy relaxing and having cuddles.

We are sweet, friendly boys and can’t wait to find our true forever home this time.

I (Hickory) was diagnosed with a common skin condition called Eosinophilic Granuloma Complex (EGC). Please don’t let this put you off — further details can be found in my medical history below. I am otherwise a healthy boy and have been doing really well.

Home we are looking for…

We are now searching for our true forever home with kind, understanding humans who will give us the time we need to settle at our own pace, keep our world calm and familiar, and support us through any little challenges with patience, love, and commitment.

👧We can live with sensible gentle children 8+ years old.

🐈 We could live with other young cat friendly cats/s

🐕 We could live with a calm cat friendly dog.

Due to my (Hickory) skin condition we are looking for a home as indoor cats to prevent me having further problems with any allergens outdoors. We would require a home with plenty of space to play and run around as well as plenty of enrichment and company.

Although not essential a home with a catio would be a bonus!

Please note- Applicants will ONLY be contacted if you are a suitable match. Please be aware we complete our rehoming checks prior to arranging any meets.

Diet..

We are currently both fed scrumbles wet and dry food. I - Hickory am fed a complete hypoallergenic diet due to my skin condition. I am doing really well on this food and must be kept on it in our new home.

Medical history…

I (Hickory) developed some sore lesions around my face/lips/chin when I was a younger kitten. They would disappear and then I developed new ones so when I was neutered I had a biopsy which confirmed I had something called Eosinophilic granuloma complex (EGC). It is a common group of skin problems, often caused by an allergy, that causes inflammation of the skin. There are three different forms, which are grouped mainly because they tend to display similar signs and are often treated in the same way. EGC is generally a manageable, allergic reaction, not a fatal condition, and cats can often live a normal life with proper treatment if necessary, though it may require lifelong, intermittent medication to control possible flare-ups. further information can be found via the link here…https://icatcare.org/articles/eosinophilic-granuloma-complex-in-cats. Please dont let my skin issue put you off from adopting us if you feel you can help me because I am otherwise a young healthy boy and have been doing very well and have not needed any treatment for my condition yet. I am on a hypoallergenic diet which I am doing well on. It is worth noting insurance wont cover my condition but if I require treatment it would not be too costly and this is manageable without insurance unless complications occur in the future.

We are both healthy and happy young boys.

If you think you could offer us the home we need, please fill out an Adoption Enquiry Form. Please make sure you have read about all of our needs and our adoption policies before applying.

Forms lacking in detail or with questions unanswered may not be considered, we need to ensure we are matching our cats to the right home for them.
