Our story so far…
Hello! We are Maggie Moo and Merlin!
I- Maggie, came into the care of the sanctuary when I was just 5 weeks old. I was found all on my own in some bushes at Birmingham International Railway Station. My finders were travelling home from their holiday when they found me. Due to my age, I went home with one of the sanctuary’s cat carers, who has been fostering me ever since!
I was quite confident and friendly, so it was clear that I had been around people before and it was likely that I had been dumped. After a few weeks, I started to use my kitten teeth on my humans a little too much at times, which is very common for young kittens who don't have another kitten to learn from. Kittens do so much better with others their own age for their social, mental and physical development.
My foster mummy used lots of fun toys to distract me from my bitey behaviour, until she eventually brought me home a friend! A boy kitten named Merlin had been taken into the sanctuary after being found all on his own in someone's garden. Unfortunately, his finders were not particularly kind towards the sanctuary staff, so my foster mummy took him into the sanctuary to make sure he was safe and well cared for.
Merlin was covered in fleas and was a little underweight, but after just a week he started to look like a completely different kitten! Once Merlin had been vet checked, completed his isolation period and started his vaccinations, my foster mummy brought him home and began introducing us.
It took less than 24 hours for us to be rolling around and playing together! Merlin was also a lone kitten who was desperately in need of a friend, so it really did seem like we were meant to be paired together! We have now been together for about two months and are doing really well. We love a good game of rough and tumble and really enjoy each other's company, but we are also independent little kittens who are perfectly happy playing on our own too. We like to keep our foster mummy and daddy on their toes occasionally too, especially when we're getting up to some typical kitten mischief!
We are both very sweet kittens too and absolutely love our humans. When we aren't busy playing, we adore human affection and attention. I, Maggie, like to rub around my foster mum and dad's legs and give them big bear hugs! I love to lean against you for cuddles and will happily sleep or relax on you, your lap or your legs sometimes too, although it does depend on my mood! Merlin loves to cuddle up close and is a proper little lap kitten. We are both big tractors though, with our huge, loud purrs! I think Merlin sometimes tries to compete with me to see who can purr the loudest!
Merlin can be a little wary of new people at first, but he soon warms up once he gets to know you. He isn't quite as confident as me and can be a little more reserved when he's unsure, but once he feels comfortable, his lovely affectionate side shines through. He can be a little sensitive at times, so he will just need some extra patience, reassurance and time to settle into his new home.
We really are a lovely pair of sweet, affectionate and playful kittens. We adore each other, love our humans and are looking for a home where we can continue to thrive together.
Home we are looking for…
We could live with sensible calm children aged 8 years and over. Our ideal home would be one where we have plenty of company, attention and opportunities to play. As two lively kittens, we would love an active home with adopters who can keep up with our playful nature and have the time and energy to enjoy all the fun that comes with raising a pair of youngsters!
We have mixed well with our foster parents cats so we could live with other cat friendly cats, provided they are happy to share their home with two lively, playful kittens. We are very respectful of our foster brother and sisters and have formed sweet bonds with them. We have not been around dogs but we may even be able to live with a calm, cat friendly dog who will give us time to settle in.
We are looking for an indoor-only home where we can enjoy a safe and happy life together with sufficient space to play, explore and relax.. Our new family will need to provide us with plenty of enrichment, including toys, puzzle feeders, scratching posts and cat furniture, to keep us entertained and ensure we have everything we need to thrive indoors. After all, we don't know any different! Access to a secure catio or cat-proofed garden would be a lovely added bonus, but it isn't essential.
If you think you could offer us the loving home we are looking for and meet our rehoming requirements, please complete an adoption form. Our foster mummy will be going through the applications to help find the perfect home for us! As she's looked after us and watched us grow, it will be very hard for her to say goodbye, so she'd love to receive updates and photos of our adventures in our new home. ❤️
Diet..
We are currently fed Lily’s Kitchen Kitten Pate and James Wellbeloved Kitten dry food. We recommend keeping us on our current food while we are still growing, to help keep our tummies happy and ensure we get everything we need during this important stage of development.
Medical history…
We are both healthy kittens with no current health concerns.
If you think you could offer us the home we need, please fill out an Adoption Enquiry Form. Please make sure you have read about all of our needs and our adoption policies before applying.
Forms lacking in detail or with questions unanswered may not be considered, we need to ensure we are matching our cats to the right home for them.
