Housetrained - Yes but may have accidents initially as settling in or when very excited!
Able to be left - I will need someone at home most of the day for the first several weeks but with work, my carer thinks I could be left up to 1-3 hours

About Me
I came to the Sanctuary after I was found as a stray locally. I was initially very upset coming here and found it really hard being in a kennel which meant I wasn’t very friendly to my carer at first but only because I was so scared!
After my carers spent lots of time over a few weeks sitting with me and building my trust I finally came round and realised my carers are actually great!! I now jump all over them and demand attention 24/7!!! Although I can still be a bit wary of new people at times, as long as one of my trusted humans are with me it doesnt take me long to make new friends at all now! (Especially if they give me bum and tummy rubs!)
Sadly my body has let me down a few times and I have been through a lot since coming to the Sanctuary which is why I am looking for a foster home. This way the Sanctuary can support my fosterers should I ever be poorly again and to help with my ongoing needs!
I am no couch potato, if I had it my way I would have my mad hippo zoomies and non-stop play time but my silly hoomans say I can’t as my legs are not able to keep up with my lively spirirt! I can be quite full on, I have lots of energy and love to keep busy but I do eventually flop once I have worn myself out but typically I am on the go and bursting your personal space bubble!
Home I am looking for…
Adopter with previous dog experience (bonus if they are used to bolshy bully breeds like me!)
Adult only home with only a few people living in the home.
No or few visitors to the home as I can find new people in my space scary and get silly.
I need to be the only pet in the home.
Adopter who is willing to follow my health & behaviour management
I would really love a home with someone who will give me lots of love, attention and supervised play-time!!
I need a home with few/no regular visitors and a secure safe space that I can be shut away from any visitors/ work persons.
I’m such a excitable girl I can jump up quite a lot at people and I do pull on my lead, I’m not too strong but I can get a bit pully so I need a fairly strong handler.
I need someone local to the Sanctuary or to our vets in Redditch as I need regular check-ups to make sure I am doing well.
Behaviour & Health
I need to build strong relationships to feel truly safe so I need multiple meets with potential adopters over a several weeks or longer.
Although I walk well on lead with my training, I do get excited and forget sometimes so I need a fairly strong handler.
I am very excitable and need someone who can both manage my energy and help keep me calm.
I am fully muzzle trained and need to wear my muzzle at the vets
I have some stiffness in my hips and elbows, I am on joint supplements to help keep me comfortable and I will need to continue joint supplements in my new home.
I am not the best built dog and have had some health issues. I am on a special renal (kidney) diet and kidney supplements which I need to stay on - the Sanctuary can provide this.
My back legs both have cruciate issues, I have had surgeries on my hind left leg and need support and careful monitoring to make sure I do not re-injure or worsen my joints. I am also on pain relief to make sure I am comfortable.
When I came to the Sanctuary my carers realised I had a inverted cork-screw tail, this was causing me quite a lot of discomfort so I had surgery to remove it and I am much happier!
Like many bulldogs I need my skin folds and ears cleaned reguarly too!

Fostering give dogs a chance to be in a home environment either while waiting for their forever home to come along or to give them a bit of respite from being in kennels.
Some dogs can find coming into kennels really stressful and do much better in a home environment. Sometimes we may have dogs in our care that have been or will be waiting in kennels longer for various reasons
We always assess any dogs that come into our care to help determine how they will cope in a kennel environment, find out all about them & their history and assess their behaviour. Based on our assessment we may look to place them in a foster home if we feel this would be better for them
We ideally look for a foster home that can care for them as long as needed to find their forever adoptive home, sometimes we may decide a shorter term foster home may be better to give them respite from kennels or just while they are in need of extra TLC.
