My story so far…
Hello, my name is Daisie-May
I arrived at the sanctuary in February with my four kittens. My owners were moving away and were unable to take me with them. As I was nursing my kittens and had previously raised another litter, it was decided that the best option for us was to be signed over to the sanctuary.
When I first arrived, I was understandably a little stressed and very protective of my babies. However, it only took a few days for me to settle in, feel more comfortable, and learn to trust my new human carers.
I was a good mummy to my babies, but once they were old enough to become more independent, I was finally able to have some well-deserved rest and enjoy having my own space again.
I am a sweet young girl with the perfect balance of playful and laid-back. I love relaxing on my box bed. That said, I do get the occasional case of the zoomies and enjoy racing around, chasing springs, and batting toy mice along the corridor. I also enjoy spending time in the kitchen/ feed room, where I can sit by the window and quietly watch the world go by.
I have a lovely balance of being affectionate without being overly demanding. I enjoy fuss and attention from my people, but I'm also quite independent and appreciate having my own space. Sometimes I can be a little wary of new situations, and if I'm feeling unsure, I may give a hiss to let you know. Despite this, I am a very gentle and sweet-natured girl who quickly warms up once I feel safe and comfortable.
If you're looking for a sweet, easy-going companion who enjoys both affection and independence, I could be the perfect match for you.
Home I am looking for…
I could live with sensible children aged 6+ who will understand and respect my boundaries.
I have mixed well with some of the calmer cats here at the sanctuary and often spend time out of my pen with another cat called Charlie. We don't interact very much, but we're both happy sharing the same space and doing our own thing. Because of this, I could happily live with another calm and friendly cat. I would prefer a companion who is relaxed and respectful, as I wouldn't enjoy living with a cat that is overly playful or constantly in my face.
I have also met one of the friendly dogs at the sanctuary. While I was a little wary at first, I was very curious and not overly bothered by their presence. With sensible introductions, I could adapt well to sharing a home with a calm, cat-friendly dog.
Once I have settled into my new home, I would love to have outdoor access again. To help me settle safely, I will need to be kept strictly indoors for at least 8 weeks while I build a bond with my new family and become familiar with my surroundings. During this time, care should be taken around doors leading directly outside, as I may be tempted to slip out before I'm ready.
A large catio or a securely cat-proofed garden would alternatively provide a wonderful and safe alternative for me to enjoy the outdoors.
If you think you could offer me the loving home I'm looking for and meet my rehoming requirements, please complete an adoption form.
Home and road/environmental checks apply.
Diet..
I am currently fed wet and dry adult food. I have scrumbles adult dry and a variety of adult wet foods. It is advised to feed at least a good quality dry food. It is recommended that I stay on the current food I am on at least whilst I settle in my new home.
Medical history…
I have a small anatomical difference in my nose that I was born with. I have missing cartilage at the front section of my nose, which means my nasal passages can narrow slightly when I breathe in. Because of this, I can sometimes sound a little congested or sniffly.
Aside from this, I am still a very happy and healthy young girl who enjoys life to the fullest.
This doesn't stop me from enjoying life as a normal, happy cat. However, if I were to develop cat flu or another respiratory illness in the future, my symptoms could affect me slightly more than they would other cats, so it is something my new family should be aware of and monitor. Its even more important for me to have my booster vaccinations too.
If you think you could offer me the home I need, please fill out an Adoption Enquiry Form. Please make sure you have read about my needs and the adoption policies before applying.
Forms lacking in detail or with questions unanswered may not be considered, we need to ensure we are matching our cats to the right home for them.
