My story so far…

Hello everyone, I’m Mila.

I came to the sanctuary at just a few months old. I was bought as a ‘companion’ for an elderly man, but thankfully the family soon realised that this was not a good idea and they decided (after being advised) to find rescue space for me so that I could find a home better suited to me and my needs. My previous owner lived in a retirement complex, with carers who regularly came around to check on him and help him. Sadly, he was quite confused and forgetful so would forget to feed me, change my litter tray and give me water but thankfully the carers would check on me and feed me. It was actually one of the carers who contacted the sanctuary, and after speaking to her and hearing that I was not being fed regularly or receiving the care that I needed, my carer here at the sanctuary knew that I needed help ASAP and I arrived here later that day!

When I arrived here it was clear that I wasn’t particularly used to being handled. I was a very sweet little girl but my carer could tell that I had been deprived of the amount of human interaction that a kitten of that age needs. I had a lot of built up energy and frustration, so would bite and try to fight the humans here, playfully of course but they said it hurt! They gave me some nice smelly catnip/valerian toys that I could beat up and fight instead and this definitely helped! I’m not sure that I had seen a toy before then, so it was very exciting.

The humans taught me that I should play with the toys and not hands, although sometimes I do forget oops. I am generally really good though, much better than when I first arrived here. My carer describes me as a ‘sweet baby girl’ who loves lots of attention and pick up cuddles. In fact, my most favoritest thing is to be cuddled and carried like a baby.

As soon as I arrived, my carer knew that I needed a kitty friend to play with. This is very important for social, physical and mental development of young kittens. Once I was vaccinated and neutered, I was introduced to Roastie, who is a little older than me but also needed a friend and apparently he wanted a younger friend, so we matched each other perfectly. We were given time to play together each day and now live together in a pen. We really do love each other so much and have formed a lovely bond, so we are looking for a home together. I can’t imagine a life without my big brother Roastie now!

Home I am looking for…

Obviously, I am looking for a home with Roastie. Please read more about him too! We are looking for an indoor only home, but MUST have access to a secure catio or cat-proofed garden (escape proof fence toppers). If you don’t currently have this but are willing to get it done, please do still apply to adopt us as you may be the home for us. It will be required that the catio is built or fencing is secured (with cat-proof fence toppers) before we can go home, so this will need to be something that you can get done ASAP.

Roastie doesn’t like other cats, so we need to be the only cats in the home, however we do seem quite interested in dogs so could potentially live with a dog who is used to cats. I am great with children and so is Roastie, but due to his behaviours in the home that he went to briefly, we are looking for a home with older children 14+ or adult only.

Please read all about Roastie and send in an enquiry form if you can give us the home we need!

Medical history…

I am a healthy young girl with no health concerns currently.

If you think you could offer me the home I need, please fill out an Adoption Enquiry Form. Please make sure you have read about all of my needs and our adoption policies before applying.

Forms lacking in detail or with questions unanswered may not be considered, we need to ensure we are matching our cats to the right home for them.
