My story so far…

Hello my name is Slinky

I came to the sanctuary after I was rescued from a small colony of strays/feral cats. I had clearly lived outside since I was born.

I was very scared when I was trapped and brought into the sanctuary but my rescuer and carer knew I was not feral and had the potential to be won over by the humans. Well, they were absolutely right! I came to the sanctuary in February this year and it took a good few months but I slowly started to show signs of confidence and trust around the humans especially my main carer.

I started to gain confidence and show some fear aggressive behaviours because of how overwhelmed I was. Eventually I started to settle a bit more and let my carer touch me. I realised I really enjoyed it and since then I have come out of my shell even more and I am such a loving boy. I love affection and will rub around my carer's legs for fusses. If I feel overstimulated, I can go to nip and tell you I'm overwhelmed in that moment.

I could be easily misunderstood but I am just nervous and wary. I get worried about any sudden noises and movements and will retreat into my safe hidey bed.

I have come a long way in just under four months so my carer believes I will come out of my shell and gain more confidence in a home with humans that are patient and understanding. Could this be you?

Home I am looking for…

I do of course need an adult only home. I would not cope being around children. I need a calm, quiet home. I need humans that understand it will take me time to settle and feel comfortable in a home environment.

I would ideally need to live with another cat friendly cat/s. I would fit into a multi cat home quite well. I socialise with other cats well as I'm so used to living with them from my colony. They are familiar to me and help me come out of my shell more. I have made friends with Maui here at the sanctuary. I like him more than he likes me but that's fine! (Any cats would need to be vaccinated and neutered and proof will be required)

I would not enjoy living with a dog.

My ideal home would be a safe indoor home with a catio or cat proofed garden I can go outside in safely. I can be homed as an indoor cat with suffiecient space, lots of enrichment and other feline company! I could possibly have safe outdoor access in the future but must remain indoors for at least 6 months. Must be in a very very quiet area not on or near any busy/main/fast roads or railway lines.

Home and Road/environmental checks apply.

(Applicants will ONLY be contacted if you are a suitable match. Please be aware we complete our rehoming checks prior to arranging any meets)

Diet...

I am fed a mix of wet and dry food- Scrumbles dry and a mix of wet food foods- whiskas, blink, applaws, sheba

I need to continue on a good quality diet.

Medical history…

I have had a dental with extractions and may require further dental treatment in the future. I am otherwise a healthy boy with no health concerns.

If you think you could offer me the home I need, please fill out an Adoption Enquiry Form. Please make sure you have read about all of my needs and our adoption policies before applying.

Forms lacking in detail or with questions unanswered may not be considered, we need to ensure we are matching our cats to the right home for them.
